At the opposite end of the Fitbit range of products is the Fitbit Surge. This is a top of the line, fitness tracker watch that costs almost 4 times as much as the Fitbit Zip. However, you also get at least 4 times as much information from the Fitbit Surge watch. The Surge brings you GPS tracking and heart rate monitoring for a bigger picture of your activities. It also monitors steps, distance, calories, stairs climbed, activity minutes, hourly totals of activity and stationary minutes, and tracks your sleep. You can set the Fitbit Surge for your desired activity such as running, cycling and stair climbing for more accurate counts of your steps and distance. On the watch, you can display incoming calls and texts and listen to music from your smart phone. It wirelessly syncs with your device for recording and lasts approximately 7 days on a charge. If you are using the GPS feature, the battery life is good for approximately 10 hours. Fitbit connects with Strava, a social network for athletes, so you are motivated by and can motivate others with your daily activity. The LCD screen has backlighting and you can visually observe your information to make instant changes such as increasing your intensity level into your heart rate zone. It is not waterproof and cannot be used for swimming but it is water and sweat resistant. One of the things that makes the Fitbit Surge unique is the ability to set it for activities such as yoga and weight training.
